An Introduction

CiviCRM is a free and open source contact management solution. It is web-based, internationalised and designed specifically to meet the needs of member based organisations. It is a powerful contact, fundraising and eCRM system that enables the user to record and manage information about various contacts including individuals and organisations. It allows the recording and monitoring of subscriptions, donations, transactions, conversations, events or any type of activity/correspondence with each contact and stores all of this information in one, easily accessible and manageable database.

• CiviCRM was designed from the ground up for the NfP/membership sector.
• Since it’s inception it has been open source & conforming to open standards. Licensed under the GNU AGPL, users can make any modification to the software, can benefit from modifications made by others and can seamlessly integrate with other
applications.
• Internationalised & Localised - CiviCRM was built from the ground up as a product intended to be used globally. It can store data in many localised formats and has been
translated into a number of languages - including French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and many more.
• Affordable and cost effective - CiviCRM is available without a license fee and is supported by a community of NfP focused consultants.
• Seamless integration with websites - CiviCRM integrates directly into the popular open source Content Management systems – one of the main ones being Drupal. Bookings/registrations, donations and different types of contact engagement can be logged directly into the system, including end-user maintenance of their own addresses and custom fields.
